Solar in Corona
Corona's Building Division lists residential solar photovoltaic of 15 kW or less in Table D, Electrical Fees (printed effective October 4, 2026). The table shows $368.00 for plan check only, $187.00 for inspection only and $555.00 total, with $17.00 total for each kW above 15 kW. The city runs its own routes: expedited solar plan check forms for central-inverter or microinverter systems of 10 kW or smaller, and Symbium solar permits.
It isn't on the SolarAPP+ list. Forms go in electronically through eTRAKiT, and plan check doesn't start until the plan check fee payment is confirmed. Before work starts, the Expedited Permits page says the address needs its own application and approval from the electric utility, either Southern California Edison or the Corona Utilities Department (951-279-3677). Corona Utilities doesn't allow Tesla Backup Switch type devices attached to the meter, which matters if your quote includes a battery with that kind of switch.
On the Energy Commission's layer, SCE holds the center of Corona and the City of Riverside's utility touches the edge, so read which provider is on your bill. Corona's Building Division offices are at City Hall, 400 S. Vicentia Ave., 951-736-2250, open Monday to Thursday 7 AM to 6 PM and closed Friday. Ask the installer which utility it's applying to and whether the battery hardware it quoted connects at the meter.
What solar costs near Corona
No installer has quoted us a Corona job, so this page gives no city price. The California page lists the estimates with what solar installers are paid ($30.42 an hour in the BLS wage data, which is pay, not price) and the utility application fees. How we estimate costs.
Licenses and permits for solar in Corona
In California a solar system goes on a house under a CSLB license: A, B, C-10 Electrical or C-46 Solar. Under Gov. Code 65850.5 the city or county approves a residential solar permit administratively, and under Gov. Code 66015 its fee is capped at $450 plus $15 per kW above 15 kW unless it adopts a written finding. The utility's interconnection application comes on top of the permit.
