Holding a solar quote, and not sure what to compare it against?

There's no federal tax credit for a home solar system installed in 2026, so the price on the contract is the price you pay. Your utility's export credit and your own roof decide whether panels pay back, and few installers publish prices, so the quote is where you'll see one. When you want one, pick the job and add your ZIP code, and we'll pass your request to a single solar installer that works there. You settle the price with that installer, and before you sign, ask for its contractor license number and look it up.

If there's smoke, a burning smell or fire at the inverter, the panels or the wiring, call 911. Anything else can go through the form below. Send an emergency request
  • What to compare on every quoteAsk for the total cost including financing, the system size in kW DC and the cost per watt before any incentive. Then ask for the panels and inverter by model, who files the utility application and who pulls the permit, what the warranties cover, and whether it's a purchase, loan, lease or PPA.
  • Your request reaches one installerOne installer gets your request and calls you, and the consent line on the form says so before you send.
  • Each cost range says it's an estimateCost tables open with a modeled range, say what it's built from and stop before any credit, because none applies to a 2026 install.

How it works

What happens once the form is sent

The form asks for the job, then your ZIP code, then your contact details. It costs you nothing, because the installer that gets your request pays us a fee, and since we're a referral service, we don't install panels, hold a contractor license or set prices.

How we are paid
  1. 01

Say what you want done and where

Tap the job, then type the five digits of your ZIP code. If no installer we send to covers that ZIP, the form says so before it asks for a phone number.

  2. 02

Add how the installer should reach you

Name, phone and email come last, each with a line beside it saying why we ask, and the installer that takes your request is the one meant to call that number.

  3. 03

    One installer calls you

That installer gives you its own quote, and you can turn it down. If your phone stays quiet, no installer took the request, so go to the quote guide and the license lookup.

Why there's no payback calculator here

There's a cost model but no payback tool: whether panels pay back turns on your utility's export credit and your roof, and we won't compute savings from either. What you get is a modeled cost range for each job, marked as an estimate, and the questions to put to a quote.

Guides for the question you're stuck on

There are guides on what to compare on a quote, where the federal credit stands, roof age, batteries, leases and PPAs, selling a home with solar and checking a contractor's license, and each lists its sources at the bottom.
