Who runs SolarPanelMatch, and the work it leaves to installers
Tell us the solar job you have in mind and your ZIP code, and SolarPanelMatch (solarpanelmatchusa.com), a referral service, passes the request to one independent solar installer that has asked for work there.
A referral service, not an installer
SolarPanelMatch employs no installers and holds no contractor license, so the company that does the work answers for it. Setting prices isn't our job either. Nothing here says that an installer we send requests to is licensed, insured or bonded, so check the license number with your state's licensing board before you sign.
A fee from the installer that receives your request is the whole business, and the how it works page has the details.
Why we start with the quote
No federal tax credit applies to a home solar system installed in 2026, so the price on the contract is the price you pay, and few installers publish prices, which leaves the quote as the place to compare. Whether panels pay back depends on your utility's export credit and your roof, and the rules behind both differ by state, which is why each state has its own page.
City pages use each city's printed permit fee and its electric utility where we could confirm them, and when a city's pages show no solar fee, the page says so.
Why the prices here are estimates, not quotes
Our cost ranges are estimates built from published national ranges and adjusted for what solar installers in the state are paid, using federal wage data, and permit fees and utility application fees sit beside them as separate rows. None of it is a price list; the editorial policy explains how the estimates are built and when they're re-checked.
What each page has to meet before it goes up
Each guide names its sources at the bottom, and a fact without one stays off the page; the full standard is in the editorial policy. Rules change, so check with your state's licensing board and your utility before you rely on any summary here, and if you find something off, tell us.
