Solar rules by state and city

Start with the state page for the contractor license, how the utility credits exported power, permits and costs, then your city for its housing and the solar facts we could confirm there.

States live now

Every live state has a state page and a page for each city of more than 10,000 residents. A city page we haven't researched yet sends you to the state page and is kept out of the sitemap until it's written.

The rest of the country isn't written yet, and those pages say so, with the request form, which tells you plainly if we can't match you yet.

The biggest cities we cover

Population figures come from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, and every researched city page is written from that town's own sources.
