Solar in Port St. Lucie
Port St. Lucie's solar-electric checklist calls for an electrical diagram and roof-attachment plans signed and sealed by a Florida architect or engineer. The checklist is marked September 29, 2025. It also allows the department to request additional documents, so an installer's claim that a standard equipment package is enough should be checked against the proposed installation. The application identifies the site address, legal description, parcel, owner, contractor and designer, plus the system type and valuation.
The contractor or homeowner-builder signature must be notarized. Where roof penetrations require another contractor, the checklist calls for the relevant subcontractor applications. For work valued at $5,000 or more, a recorded Notice of Commencement must reach permitting before the first inspection can be scheduled. Applying as an owner builder brings additional paperwork: the deed or a property-appraiser record bearing the owner's name, the homeowner-builder affidavit, and a personal appearance for notarization.
Those conditions come from the city's own solar checklist. The Building Department is at City Hall, Building B, 121 S.W. Port St. Lucie Boulevard, on 772-871-5132. Its residential fee sheet, updated July 30, 2025, lists a photovoltaic building fee of $250, or $235 online, with $0 plan review and listed BIC and FBC charges of $3.75 and $2.50. Confirm the applicable route and any subcontractor or payment charges before estimating the total. The permit record should identify both the solar scope and any separate roof work.

Licenses and permits for solar in Port St. Lucie
MCL 339.5737(1) requires a license for the business of electrical contracting, and the Act's definition of electrical wiring covers generating equipment, so ask the installer for its electrical contractor license number. The utility's interconnection application is a separate filing from the city permit.
