Solar in Wyoming

Wyoming's fee schedule, marked "Effective 2026," charges $40.00 for an alternative power system (solar, wind and so on) and its first 10 KW. Each additional 1 KW is $4.00. The electrical application fee is $50.00 and includes one inspection. Watch the mechanical section. Its "Solar Equipment Panels (including piping)" line, $25.00, is a solar thermal item and doesn't price a PV system. Building Inspections, part of Community and Economic Development, answers at 616-530-7285, per the city's page, and issues Wyoming's electrical permits.

Only Consumers Energy's territory polygon on the MPSC map intersects Wyoming; check your address with Consumers to be sure. Consumers sorts systems by size: Level 1 runs up to 20 kW and Level 2 from over 20 to 150 kW, on a single meter. Since both the city's electrical rows and the utility's levels run on kW, the system size on your quote is the number everything else follows from. Check that the quote's permit line comes from the electrical rows at that size and not from the mechanical one.

What solar costs near Wyoming

We haven't collected solar quotes from Wyoming, so this page gives no city price. The statewide estimates are on each service page, and the Michigan page lists them with what solar installers are paid ($24.29 an hour in BLS data for May 2025, which is pay, not price), the printed city permit fees and the utility application fees. How we estimate costs.

Licenses and permits for solar in Wyoming

MCL 339.5737(1) requires a license for the business of electrical contracting, and the Act's definition of electrical wiring covers generating equipment, so ask the installer for its electrical contractor license number. The utility's interconnection application is a separate filing from the city permit.
